PROJECTS

2HendersonLogo.jpg

This artwork was an exercise in creating a logo for a fictional business. This business, titled "Hana", was intended to be a clothing line of some sort, but it found itself being a more ambiguous design that brings a peaceful mood to the viewer. I wanted to use this shade of pink to enhance the calming feeling, while the use of the circles were to symbolize the idea of the 3 marks of Buddhist existence. All but one line is an arc, so it would feel more organic, while still using the one straight line to ground the whole design.

This artwork was an exercise in not only tracing a vector image from a picture, but also editing it with various tools in Illustrator. In this piece, I altered the color scheme of my shoe from black and white to various shades of blue and green. I waned to make this design one consistent pattern, so I layered each shoe on top of another, making them progressively smaller. I liked the way the piece had leading lines from each corner. I really enjoy the use of cool colors, and I tend to gravitate towards cool colors more than warm colors.

This artwork was an exercise in not only tracing a vector image from a picture, but also editing it with various tools in Illustrator. This photo is a picture of my own home. This was a very time consuming process, because I was having many issues with my tools when came to filling in areas with color. It was a challenge to figure out how to make the bushes look somewhat realistically shaped. If I were to do this piece again, I would try to add more shading to everything. I tried to add block shading to the walls, but they still look very flat.

This art piece was one of the first Adobe Illustrator projects I did in my graphic design class. This mountainscape was intended to practice foreground, mid ground, and background. The various trees and the path are meant to show perspective in the piece, leading into the mountain valley in the distance. I was very proud of the way the snow looked on top of the mountains, despite looking VERY cartoon-y. My goal was to maintain a brown, earth-toned color scheme throughout the piece, while having a bright contrast of blue for the sky. I feel like I could have put more effort into the clouds.

This piece was meant as a practice in using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator in my graphic design class. I really liked how the gradient of the background sunset turned out. I also attempted to make somewhat more realistic clouds by changing the opacity of the white, then feathering it afterwards. The balloons themselves were quite simple to make and change their colors, and they have a simple, but cute look to them. This piece also utilizes the foreground with the balloons, the clouds in the mid ground, and the sunset in the background. I also liked the style of the cartoon-like shading.
